Chromium is a metallic element found in nature as colorful soluble mineral chromium halides. It is a Block P, Group 17, Period 4 element with an electron configuration of [Ar]4s23d104p5. Chromium was named after the Greek word for color due to its various colored compounds.

chromium 2 bromide is a white crystalline solid inorganic compound with the chemical formula CrBr2. It is hygroscopic in nature and readily dissolves in water to form blue solutions. Like many metal dihalides, it adopts the cadmium iodide structure motif, which is comprised of sheets of octahedral chromium (II) centers interconnected by bridging bromide ligands. It oxidizes in moist air but remains stable in dry air. American Elements produces chromium 2 bromide in a wide range of standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec; ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade and USP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) certified.
