Cadmium Telluride Powder CdTe Cas 1306-25-8

About Cadmium Telluride Powder CdTe Powder:
The chemical formula of cadmium telluride is CdTe, the molecular weight is 240.00, and it has certain liver and kidney toxicity. The melting point is 1041℃, and it decomposes when the temperature is higher, and the relative density is 6.2015. It is insoluble in water and acid but can be decomposed by reacting with nitric acid. It is easily oxidized by air when wet.
Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a stable crystalline compound formed from cadmium and tellurium. It is mainly used as a semiconductor material and infrared optical window in cadmium telluride photovoltaic cells. It is usually sandwiched with cadmium sulfide to form a p-n junction solar photovoltaic cell. Generally, CdTe PV cells use an n-i-p structure.
Bulk CdTe is transparent in the infrared, from close to its bandgap energy (1.5 eV at 300 K, corresponding to an infrared wavelength of about 830 nm) to wavelengths greater than 20 µm. Correspondingly, CdTe fluoresces at 790 nm. As the size of CdTe crystals is reduced to a few nanometers or less, so that they become CdTe quantum dots, the fluorescence peaks move to ultraviolet light in the visible light range.
CdTe is insoluble in water. CdTe has a high melting point of 1041°C and evaporates from 1050°C. The vapor pressure of CdTe at ambient temperature is zero. Due to its high melting point and insolubility, CdTe is more stable than its parent compounds cadmium and tellurium and most other Cd compounds. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Cadmium Telluride Powder CdTe in bulk.

How is Cadmium Telluride Powder CdTe Powder produced?
The mixture of tellurium and cadmium is melted and sublimated in a hydrogen stream, or cadmium tellurite or tellurite is heated and reduced in a hydrogen stream. It can also be reacted by sodium telluride and a cadmium acetate solution acidified by acetic acid. It is brownish-red when precipitated, and almost black after drying. It can also be obtained by acting on cadmium vapor with hydrogen telluride to form a single crystal of cadmium telluride. Using high-purity tellurium and cadmium as raw materials, cadmium telluride is synthesized after deoxidation and then grown into a single crystal or polycrystalline by vertical crystallization method or vertical zone melting method.

Application of Cadmium Telluride Powder CdTe Powder:
CdTe is mainly used in solar cells, thermoelectric conversion elements, refrigeration components, thermal, photosensitive, piezoelectric crystals, nuclear radiation detection and infrared detectors. It can also be used in industrial additives such as semiconductor devices, alloys, chemical raw materials and cast iron, rubber, Glass, etc.
CdTe is used to make thin-film solar cells.
CdTe can be alloyed with mercury to make a universal infrared detector material (HgCdTe).

Cadmium Selenide CdSe Powder CAS 1306-24-7

About Cadmium Selenide CdSe Powder :
Cadmium selenide is an inorganic compound with the molecular formula CdSe.What is the name of CdSe? Cadmium selenide. It is a black to red-black solid and is classified as an N-type semiconductor II-VI.So far, research on the salt has focused on its nanoparticles. Cadmium selenide (CdSe) is a hexagonal modified tetrahedral semiconductor with a wurtzite structure.CdSe is a uniaxial optical semiconductor with two dielectric functions. The measurement of the reflectivity spectra of CdSe crystals under the action of polarized light shows that the electric vectors parallel to and perpendicular to the hexagonal axis are quite different.
Cadmium selenide is a solid binary compound of cadmium and selenium. It is an n-type semiconductor material that is transparent to infrared light. However, p-type doping of cadmium selenide occurs in the use of nitrogen. Wurtzite, sphalerite and rock salt are the three known forms of cadmium selenide crystals. Cadmium is a toxic heavy metal, and selenium can be toxic in large amounts. Cadmium selenide is therefore a known carcinogen in humans and requires medical attention if swallowed or if it comes into contact with the eyes and skin. Most of the current research work focuses on development control.
What is Cadmium Selenide structure? CdSe comes in three crystalline forms: hexagonal wurtzite (hexagonal), galena (cubic), and halite (cubic). The CdSe structure of sphalerite is unstable and converts to wurtzite after moderate heating. The transition starts at around 130 ° C and can be completed in a day at 700 ° C.Halite structures are only observed at high pressures. How is Cadmium Selenide CdSe Powder produced?
Cadmium selenide (cadmium selenide synthesis) is produced in two different ways. Bulk crystalline CdSe was prepared by high-pressure vertical Bridgman method or high-pressure vertical zone melting method
CdSe can also be produced in the form of nanoparticles. There are several methods for preparing CdSe nanoparticles: retention precipitation in solution, synthesis of structural media, pyrolysis at high temperature, ultrasonochemistry, and radiolysis
Under controlled conditions, alkyl cadmium and tri octyl phosphine selenide (TOPSE) precursors were introduced into a heated solvent, and cadmium selenide was prepared by retention precipitation in a solution
ME2Cd + TOPSE →CdSe +(by-product)
High-temperature pyrolytic synthesis is usually carried out using aerosols containing volatile mixtures of cadmium and selenium precursors. The precursor aerosol is then brought into a furnace containing inert gases such as hydrogen, nitrogen or argon. The precursor reacts in the furnace to form CdSe and several by-products.

Applications of Cadmium Selenide CdSe Powder:
CdSe materials are transparent to infrared (IR) light and have limited applications in photoresistors and Windows of instruments that utilize infrared light. The material also has high luminescent properties.CdSe is a component of the pigment cadmium orange.
Cadmium selenide uses are also including:
Optoelectronic devices
Laser diode
Biomedical imaging

Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder CAS 1306-23-6

About Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder :
Cadmium sulfide is an inorganic substance with a chemical formula of CdS. There are two crystals, the α-form is a lemon yellow powder, and the β-form is an orange-red powder. Slightly soluble in water, soluble in acid, slightly soluble in ammonia. Cadmium sulfide is a yellow solid. It has two different crystal structures in nature, namely, the rare minerals clinopyroxene and leucite, but it is more commonly used as an impurity substituent in zinc ore with similar structure, sphalerite and wurtzite, while zinc ore Sphalerite and wurtzite are the main economic sources of cadmium. As a compound that is easy to separate and purify, it is the main source of cadmium in all commercial applications. Its bright yellow color made it used as a pigment for the yellow paint “Cadmium Yellow” in the 18th century.

Like zinc sulfide, cadmium sulfide has two crystal forms. More stable hexagonal wurtzite structure (present in Greenockite mineral) and cubic zinc mixed structure (present in Hawleyite mineral). In both forms, cadmium and sulfur atoms have four coordinates. There is also a high-pressure form with a NaCl rock salt structure.

Cadmium sulfide is a direct bandgap semiconductor (energy gap 2.42 eV). The proximity of its bandgap to the wavelength of visible light gives it a colorful appearance.
Both polymorphs are piezoelectric, and the hexagon is also pyroelectric.
CdS crystal can be used as the gain medium of solid-state lasers.
CdS can be used in combination with other layers in the form of thin films for certain types of solar cells. CdS is also one of the first semiconductor materials used in thin-film transistors (TFT).

The CdS film can be a piezoelectric film and has been used as a transducer that can operate at frequencies in the GHz range. Feel free to send an inquiry to get the latest price if you would like to buy Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder in bulk.

How is Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder produced?
Cadmium sulfide can be prepared by precipitation from soluble cadmium(II) salts with sulfide ions. This reaction has been used for gravimetric analysis and qualitative inorganic analysis.

Industrial cadmium ore is leached into cadmium sulfate with sulfuric acid, adjusted to pH=3.5 and precipitated with sodium sulfide, and the pH should not be too low.

The production of pigments usually involves precipitation of CdS, washing of solid precipitates to remove soluble cadmium salts, then calcination (roasting) to convert them into hexagons, and then grinding to produce powders. When cadmium sulfide selenide is required, CdSe and CdS will co-precipitate, and cadmium selenide will be generated during the calcination step.

Applications of Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder :
Cadmium sulfide is called cadmium yellow and is used to color enamel, glass, ceramics, plastics and paint.
Nickel yellow is suitable for coloring almost all resins and is translucent in plastics. There is a light-colored cadmium yellow containing zinc sulfide in polyethylene, and the molding processing time should be extended appropriately because zinc sulfide will promote the decomposition of polyethylene plastic and make it green. Cadmium yellow should not be mixed with pigments containing copper or copper salts to avoid the formation of black copper sulfide or green copper sulfate. Cadmium yellow and blue pigments can be mixed together to obtain green.
Cadmium sulfide is mainly used as a pigment owing to its good thermal stability, light and weather fastness, chemical resistance, and high opacity.
Other applications of cadmium sulfide are listed below:
Photoresistors
Thin-film transistors
Transducers
Solar cells
Electrochemical deposition
Sol-gel techniques
Screen printing.

Storage Condition of Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder:
Damp reunion will affect CdS powder dispersion performance and using effects, therefore, Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder should be sealed in vacuum packing and stored in cool and dry room, the Cadmium Sulfide CdS Powder can not be exposure to air. In addition, the CdS powder should be avoided under stress.
