The Pueblo of Nambe (Nambe Oweenge, pronounced Nangbe’e Owingeh) is an American Indian tribe and census-designated place in Santa Fe County, New Mexico. The people of the pueblo participate in a mixed economy, with many residents working outside of the pueblo for jobs in Santa Fe and other cities. The pueblo is also home to many beautiful ceremonial grounds. Visitors are welcome to tour the village, but entrance into a pueblo house is by invitation only. While the homes on the Plaza are public, they are still private residences of the tribal members and should be respected as such. A permit is required to photograph, sketch, or paint on location, and at times the pueblo may restrict access for religious ceremonies or other reasons. Always call ahead to confirm event dates and if there are any restrictions on accessing the tribal lands. The village is open to the public during daylight hours. Please do not litter, and keep noise to a minimum as this is a sacred area. The Nambe people consider nature to be holy, and it is important not to disturb the wildlife or the environment.
